Re: The Policy of Conflict of Interest (COI) in Medical Research
Announcement of “the Policy of Conflict of Interest (COI) in Medical Research”

Taking the recent social trend into consideration, the Japanese Association of Medical Sciences (JAMS) partially revised “the Guideline on COI Management in Medical Research of JAMS”, which was announced as “the COI Management Guideline of JAMS” in March, 2017. In conjunction therewith, JAMS did also announce “the Guidance on Criteria for Qualification to Make the Practice Guideline of JAMS.”
In response to JAMS’ announcements, in September, 2017, the Japanese Society of Internal Medicine partially revised and announced “the Policy of COI in Medical Research,” including the COI Management to make the Practice Guideline and the Treatment Guideline, for the affiliated societies of internal medicine which include the Japanese Society of Internal Medicine, the Japan Society of Hepatology, the Japanese Circulation Society, the Japan Endocrine Society, the Japan Diabetes Society, the Japanese Society of Nephrology, the Japanese Respiratory Society, the Japanese Society of Allergology, the Japanese Association for Infectious Diseases, the Japan Geriatrics Society, and JSH.
To insure consistency with the Japanese Society of Internal Medicine, JSH has adopted and implemented “the Policy of COI in Medical Research of JSH” which matches the “the Policy of COI in Medical Research of the Japanese Society of Internal Medicine”, and revised “Bylaws Concerning COI of JSH” as “the Disclosure of COI in Conferences and/or Official Journals of JSH.”

The presenting author is required to disclose COI of all authors at the time of abstract submission.
In the case that there is any relevant financial relationship to disclose, submit COI Self-Report Form in Conferences.
